Fall Leaf Removal

Leaves Off the Lawn Before They Do Damage

PMT Lawn & Landscape provides residential leaf removal service for homeowners, serving Indianapolis and the surrounding areas. Leaves get blown, raked, collected, and hauled off site, so the lawn goes into winter clean instead of buried. Call (317) 910-1257 to get on the fall schedule, or request an estimate.

A mature maple can drop several hundred pounds of leaves in a few weeks. On a lot with three or four of them, that is a layer thick enough to block light and trap moisture against the turf for months. What looks like a weekend chore in early October turns into a recurring one through Thanksgiving, and the last round usually lands when it is 35 degrees and raining.

Our crews handle it in passes timed to the drop, not on one arbitrary date. Leaves come off the turf, out of the beds, off the walks and driveway, and away from the foundation. Everything is loaded and hauled, and nothing is left at the curb waiting on a municipal pickup that may or may not come before the snow.

What Is Included

Every Leaf Removal Visit, Start to Finish

A leaf removal visit is more than a blower and a tarp. Crews work the property in a set order so leaves move one direction and nothing gets blown back onto finished areas. Beds and foundation lines are cleared first, then turf, then hard surfaces, and the pile is collected and loaded before the crew leaves.

Leaves that stay behind are what cause problems, so we pay attention to the spots homeowners usually skip: under decks, along fence lines, behind sheds, in window wells, and along the garage where the wind piles them up. If it is on the property, it comes off.

  • Blowing and raking leaves from turf, beds, and hard surfaces
  • Clearing fence lines, foundation beds, window wells, and under decks
  • Blowing off walks, patios, driveways, and steps so nothing tracks inside
  • Collecting and loading all leaves onto our trucks and trailers
  • Hauling everything off site, with no curb piles left behind
  • A final mow at winter height on request, once the drop is finished

Timing

Why One Visit Rarely Gets It Done

Trees in Central Indiana do not drop on the same day. Ash and honey locust go early, maples follow, and oaks hold on until well into November or later. A single visit in mid-October leaves half the canopy still up. A single visit in late November means the lawn sat under wet leaves for six weeks first.

Most properties with mature trees do best with two or three passes spaced across the season. Open subdivision lots with young trees often need just one late pass. We look at the trees on your property and quote what it realistically takes rather than pretending one date covers everyone.

Fall is also the window for turf recovery, and leaf removal is what makes it possible. Seed and fertilizer cannot reach the soil through a leaf mat, so many clients pair the final pass with aeration and overseeding while the ground is still warm enough for germination.

Quotes & Scheduling

How Leaf Removal Is Quoted and Scheduled

Leaf removal is quoted per visit based on lot size, the number and type of trees, bed square footage, and how much volume has to be hauled. A wooded half-acre with oaks generates several times the leaf volume of a quarter-acre lot with two young maples, so a flat rate would not be fair to either homeowner.

Recurring lawn care and mowing clients have leaf removal built into the fall plan and get scheduled first as the drop starts. One-time leaf removal is welcome too, and plenty of clients book a single fall visit, see how the lawn comes out of winter, and stay on for the following season.

If you also want the beds cut back, perennials trimmed, and mulch topped off before winter, the seasonal lawn cleanup covers all of it in one visit. Ask when you book and we will scope both at once instead of coming back out. Commercial properties are handled through our commercial leaf removal service.

Questions & Answers

Leaf Removal FAQs

For most Indianapolis area properties the first pass lands in mid to late October, once the early trees have dropped. Oak-heavy lots often need a final pass after Thanksgiving. We schedule around your trees rather than a fixed date.

Lots with a few young trees usually need one late pass. Properties with mature maples and oaks typically need two or three passes as the canopy comes down. We look at the trees and quote what it realistically takes.

Yes. Everything is loaded onto our trucks and trailers and hauled off site as part of the visit. We do not leave piles at the curb for a municipal pickup unless you specifically ask us to.

Yes. Leaves come out of planting beds, foundation lines, window wells, and along fences, not just off the open turf. Leaves left in beds hold moisture against stems and give insects a place to overwinter.

On lawns with a light drop, mulch mowing is an option and we will tell you when it makes sense. Under heavy canopy the volume is too high, and mulching it in leaves a mat that smothers the turf. In those cases removal is the right call.

No. One-time leaf removal is available on its own. Recurring lawn care clients simply get scheduled first when the drop hits and the calendar tightens up.

It happens in Indiana. If an early snow lands on leaves, we come back as soon as it melts and clears the turf. Leaving leaves under snow all winter is what causes matted, thin turf in spring, so finishing the job matters.
