Hardscape That Works as Hard as Your Business

PMT Lawn & Landscape designs and installs commercial hardscapes, serving Indianapolis and the surrounding areas. Call (317) 910-1257 and we will walk the property with you, take measurements, and price the work honestly, or request an estimate.

The right hardscape does far more than improve the look of a commercial property. Professionally installed walkways, paved entries, retaining walls, and outdoor gathering areas make a site more functional, safer for foot traffic, and more appealing to the clients, tenants, and employees who use it every day. For property managers and business owners, hardscape is one of the highest return investments available, because it fixes a maintenance problem and upgrades the first impression at the same time.

Central Indiana is hard on paved surfaces. Freeze-thaw cycles heave anything set on a thin or poorly compacted base, salt attacks weak joints, and delivery trucks find the one section that was not built for load. We build for that reality. Excavation depth, aggregate base, compaction in lifts, edge restraint, and drainage all get specified for the actual use of the space rather than copied from a residential patio detail.

Scope of Work

What Commercial Hardscape Installation Includes

A complete commercial hardscape plan covers a range of improvements depending on what the site needs. Some properties need one intervention, such as a wall that stops a slope from washing mulch across a sidewalk every spring. Others need a full entry rebuild because the concrete has lifted, the trip hazards keep getting reported, and patching is no longer buying any time.

We assess the site first, recommend materials rated for commercial use, and sequence the work so the property keeps functioning while we build. Phasing around tenant hours, delivery windows, and parking demand is part of the plan, not an afterthought once the excavator is already on site.

Once the hardscape is in, the surrounding turf has to be kept to the same standard, which is where commercial lawn care services take over with mowing, edging, and clean lines along the new work. Fall commercial leaf removal keeps new walks and entries clear of the wet leaves that turn into slip claims.

How We Build

Base Work Is Where the Money Goes

Almost every failed commercial paver installation fails for the same reason. The base was too thin, it was not compacted in layers, or water had nowhere to go. None of that is visible on the day the job is handed over, which is exactly why it keeps happening. We over build the part nobody sees, because the surface only stays flat if what is under it stays put.

Walls get the same treatment. Segmental retaining walls above a certain height need geogrid reinforcement, a drainage chimney behind the block, and a compacted leveling pad. Skipping any of those buys a few winters before the wall starts to lean. We would rather quote the wall that lasts and explain why the number is what it is.

Hardscape rarely stands alone. Most commercial installs pair with commercial landscape design for the plantings around the new work, and with commercial landscape maintenance afterward so joints, beds, and edges stay clean.

Who We Build For

Properties We Work On

Each property type brings a different problem to the table. Retail wants a patio or seating area that gives customers a reason to stay longer. An apartment community wants walkways that stop residents from cutting muddy paths across the turf. A school wants accessible routes that pass inspection and hold up to a few hundred pairs of feet at the same moment every afternoon. An industrial site usually just wants the water to stop coming toward the building.

We spend time on what the space is for before we talk about materials. Traffic counts, snow storage, mower access, sightlines from the road, and where people already walk all shape the layout. A hardscape that ignores how the site is actually used looks good in photos and gets worn around within a year.

Budget conversations happen early too. If the full plan is more than this year allows, we phase it so the first stage stands on its own and the later stages tie in without rework. That beats building half of something and tearing part of it out later.

  • Office parks and multi-tenant buildings
  • Retail centers, restaurant pads, and outparcels
  • HOAs, apartment communities, and clubhouse grounds
  • Schools, churches, and municipal properties
  • Medical offices and healthcare campuses
  • Industrial and manufacturing sites

The PMT Difference

A Lawn & Landscape Company You Can Trust

Homeowners, property managers, and facility teams across Johnson County keep working with us for the same handful of reasons.

01

We know Central Indiana ground

Heavy clay soil, cool-season turf, and Indiana's swing from wet spring to dry August all change how a property should be treated. We plan around the conditions we work in every day.

02

We treat the property like our own

Clean edges, blown-off walks, straightened bed lines. The details you would notice at your own house are the details we finish every visit with.

03

We show up on time and communicate

You know who is coming, when they are coming, and what happens next. From the first estimate through the last cleanup of the season.

Questions & Answers

Commercial Hardscape FAQs

It depends on square footage, access, and how much excavation is involved. A single entryway can be a few days. A full plaza with walls, steps, and drainage runs multiple weeks. We give you a schedule with the estimate and tell you promptly if weather moves it.

Yes in almost every case. We phase the work, keep safe pedestrian routes marked, and stage materials where they will not block parking or loading. Sites with tight access sometimes need overnight or weekend windows, which we plan with you up front.

Pavers flex with the freeze-thaw movement that cracks concrete, and individual units can be lifted and reset if a utility repair or a settled area needs attention. Concrete can be the better call for large uniform slabs and heavy vehicle loads. We recommend based on the use, not on a preference.

That is often the real reason we get called. Standing water at an entry, ice sheets on a walkway, or mulch washing across a lot are grading and drainage problems. We correct pitch, add catch basins and subsurface drainage where needed, and route water somewhere it belongs.

We specify materials and jointing that hold up to de-icing products, and we can coordinate the surfaces we build with your commercial snow services plan so crews know which areas need gentler treatment.

Regularly. We can price the same scope across several sites, stagger installs across a budget year, and report progress to one point of contact rather than making you chase each location.
