Fall cleanup is the one seasonal service people are most tempted to skip, and it is the one that costs the most to skip. A blanket of wet leaves left over winter mats down on the turf, blocks light, holds moisture against the crowns, and creates exactly the conditions snow mold likes. What shows up in April is not a lawn that needs mowing. It is a lawn with dead patches that have to be repaired.
Clearing the property properly in late fall is cheap insurance. It protects the turf you already paid to grow, it keeps beds from turning into overwintering habitat for pests and disease, and it means spring starts with a property that just needs mowing rather than rescuing.
What Is Included
Everything in a PMT Fall Cleanup
A cleanup that stops at the lawn is only half a cleanup. Leaves that sit in beds over winter break down into a mat that suffocates perennials and gives voles a place to live next to your shrubs, and leaves stacked in fence corners simply blow back out across the turf in the first March wind.
Our crews work the whole property, including the corners nobody wants to rake, and everything leaves on the trailer. You are not left with bags to deal with or a pile waiting on a municipal pickup that may or may not come. If you want the leaves handled without the bed work, see our standalone residential leaf removal service.
- Full leaf removal from turf, beds, fence lines, and window wells
- Cutting back spent perennials and annual beds
- Clearing bed interiors down to clean mulch or soil
- Redefining bed edges before the ground freezes
- Blowing off drives, walks, patios, and decks
- Complete haul away, with nothing piled at the curb

Timing
One Visit or Two, and When to Take Them
Central Indiana does not drop its leaves all at once. Maples and ash go early, oaks hold on into December, and a property with mature trees usually needs more than one pass to actually stay clean.
Most homes take a mid-season pass in late October or early November, then a final pass once the last trees let go. Properties with lighter canopy do fine with a single visit at the end. We look at what is actually growing on your lot and tell you which one you need, rather than selling two visits by default.
The last pass matters most, and it is also the one that books out first. Schedules in this trade fill from the back of November forward, so the earlier you get on the list, the more control you have over the date.

Pair It Up
What Else Belongs in the Fall Schedule
Fall is the best turf window of the entire year in Central Indiana. Soil is still warm, nights are cool, and crabgrass has stopped competing, which is why aeration and overseeding does more for a thin lawn in September and October than anything you can do in spring.
Pair that with the last rounds of lawn treatments and the turf spends the winter building roots instead of just surviving. Come April, the difference between a lawn that got a real fall program and one that did not is visible from the street.
- Core aeration to relieve compacted clay before winter
- Overseeding while soil is warm and weed pressure is falling
- A late season fertilizer application for root storage
- Final mow at a lower height going into dormancy

Beyond the Leaves
Commercial Sites and Winter Coverage
Retail centers, offices, HOAs, and multifamily properties run the same cleanup at a different scale, and there the driver is liability as much as appearance. Wet leaves on a sidewalk are a slip hazard, and leaves clogging a storm inlet turn the first hard rain into standing water across a parking lot.
Fall is also when winter coverage gets locked in. Sites that carry commercial snow services with us are already mapped, staked, and staffed before the first event, and cleanup crews and plow crews are working from the same site plan. Year round properties usually keep the whole thing under one landscape maintenance agreement so nothing falls between vendors.

Why It Matters
What a Skipped Cleanup Costs You in April
Turf does not go dormant and stop caring what is on top of it. Crowns stay alive under the snow, and anything that blocks light and traps water against them for three months does damage. A heavy leaf layer is the single most common reason we walk onto a property in March and find dead, greasy looking patches in otherwise healthy turf.
Beds take the same hit in a slower way. Wet debris packed around the base of shrubs holds moisture against the stems and gives rodents a protected place to chew bark all winter, which shows up as plants that leaf out weakly or not at all. Cleaning it out in November is a fraction of the cost of replacing shrubs in May.
There is a drainage angle too. Leaves migrate toward low points, downspout outlets, and storm inlets, and once they pack in there the first freeze and thaw pushes water across walks and into places it does not belong. Clearing the property in fall is as much about where the water goes as it is about how the yard looks.
- Matted leaves smother crowns and thin the turf over winter
- Trapped moisture creates ideal conditions for snow mold
- Debris in beds gives voles and overwintering pests cover
- Clogged inlets and downspout runs push water where it should not go
- Spring repair seed and sod cost more than the cleanup would have

Questions & Answers
Fall Cleanup FAQs
It applies to the fall cleanup service itself when you book through this page. Your representative will confirm the discount on the quote before any work is scheduled.
Get on the list as early as you can, then take the visit once the bulk of your leaves are down. For most Central Indiana properties that lands between late October and early December depending on your trees.
Yes. Everything leaves with the crew. There is no pile at the curb and no bags left for you to handle.
It depends on your canopy. Heavy tree cover, especially oaks, usually needs a mid-season pass and a final pass. Lighter lots do fine with one cleanup at the end of the drop.
Absolutely. Fall cleanup is quoted as a standalone service. Many clients start here and add mowing and lawn maintenance the following season.
We work the route as weather allows and reschedule you into the first workable window. Light snow that melts off usually does not stop a cleanup at all.
